Making people uncomfortable with beautiful things
Mary Helen Leonard has always dabbled in making art, but settled into a sincere obsession with ceramics in 2018 after taking an introductory course at a local arts center. Since then, she has explored hand building, slip casting, and wheel throwing in an attempt to make clay her boyfriend. Her work is inspired by beauty that often masks a messy and complicated interior. In her own words, she enjoys making people uncomfortable with beautiful things. Mary Helen works with her sister, Sarah Jayn Kamalsky in their home studio dubbed Sister Moon Ceramics.
