The dragonfly mural is designed to provide a calming and serene distraction for the patients and staff working at the hospital. LPCH also uses it as a "wayfinding" location in their extensive art collection. Three separate fused glass panels provide the eye-level portion of the sculpture. At eye-level are carefully crafted details such as dragonflies, koi, frog and lily flowers. The dragonflies feature realistic screen-printed details of the wing patterns, the fish and frog are sand blast carved for texture, and the lily pads are molded from real leaves. Above and out of reach are individual dragonflies mounted on aluminum standoffs. Good spotlighting casts shadows below the "flying" dragonflies. This design is fully modular and can be expanded to fit any space.

This project is fully customizable.

Seattle glass artist/designer accepting commissions

I'm a glass artist working in fused, slumped and kiln-cast glass. I specialize in commissions for commercial and healthcare spaces, residential, and public art. Wall panels and sinks as shown can be ordered with a 4 to 6 week lead time. Larger commissions will need to be ordered after consultation, and lead times will vary. I use unique design elements in my glass. These design elements may include Italian-style twisted cane or murrini, precious gold or silver, and/or flame-worked twists and threads made in a torch. Screen printed images may also be used. Sometimes glass is melted into molds, then assembled. When making a new piece, these design elements are combined to create my signature look. Trained in Industrial Design and ceramics before finding glass, I have been active in the art and design community for over 25 years.
