Sculptures by Lenda Anders Barth seen at San Francisco Fire Department Station 34, San Francisco - Phoenix

Phoenix

Lenda Anders Barth's beautiful relief sculpture is mounted on a wall the surrounds San Francisco Fire Department Station 34. The Phoenix symbolizes rising from the ashes. It carries a fire axe in its right talons and a fire hose in its left talons. Small flames burn beneath the Phoenix. The plaque on the wall to the right of the sculpture reads: PHOENIX 1997, Fired Clay, Fired Metallic Slips
"The mythical phoenix is a symbol of regeneration and appears on the Seal of the City of San Francisco.”
