Hamish Jackson - Vases & Vessels

Price $42

This is a simple form, dressed up fancy. I have always loved bottle forms. Whenever I go to museums, I am always drawn to the cases of old bottles, usually from Asia. There is something so satisfying about this form and its many variants.

The blue celadon glaze is pretty much entirely a local North Carolina granite, with a bit of lime thrown in to help it melt. Next to and dripped over the top of it is a black shino glaze I made up. I love the interaction of these two glazes, especially where it goes golden.

Also, it’s worth noting that all of my pots are oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.

Wood Fired Pottery made with Wild Clays and Glaze Materials

I am investigating the use of all kind of rocks to use as glazes for my pots. Clay is of utmost importance to me, then form, and then the surface of the pot.

I've got a handle on the first 2 but working to innovate the third! I am most active on Instagram.

I am a potter from England, trained as an apprentice under Mark Hewitt in North Carolina and now an MFA Candidate at Utah State University.
