Concrete Walls

Fernando created layered cement surfaces to the entire space, which took more than 3,000 hours to complete. “The intended effect was to create seamless, sculptural walls that engulf the viewer and imbue the space with a feeling of movement,” says Fernando. The walls contribute to the overall sense of beauty and seduction of the design of the store. It was poured in small batches, each layer burns into the previous, creating striations that have a grounded, geologic quality. The effect is incredibly tactile and inviting, encouraging people to run their hands along the wall.
