A world-renowned icon of elegance, the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo has become a legendary institution in the Principality of Monaco. As a symbol of excellence in the art of hospitality, since the Fifties the hotel has welcomed the most influential people of the time, including the Monegasque royal family on special occasions. Located in the Place du Casino – just at a few steps from the famous Casino de Monte Carlo – the Hôtel de Paris enjoys several ‘privileges’, such as the best hotel position on the Formula 1 Grand Prix race track, the setting overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and starred chefs to lead the internationally renowned restaurants it houses. The ambience of the Hotel, half-way between charm and legend, has been added with the light by Catellani & Smith. The precious gold which covers Luna LED and Disco illuminates the hallways giving us a sense of warmth and perfect elegance. Luna LED on the walls and Disco on the ceiling have both been designed in a custom version for the hotel: their aluminum discs covered in gold coloured leaf, applied by hand, diffuse a warm light that recalls the brightness of fire and sunlight. Catellani & Smith has also supplied PostKrisi 10 Malagolina table lamps for some exclusive rooms. These lamps are characterized by a hand-worked fiberglass diffuser that casts shapes against the walls, in a suggestive interaction between shadow and light. Gold, therefore, becomes the leitmotiv of a light design specifically studied to amaze and enchant the guest’s eyes and to meet the elegance of the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, that has made of uniqueness its raison d’être. with the kind permission of SBM.
