About: If you know, then you know. For those that know - we could close our eyes and pick up just the corner of this rug and we would know right away what it was...none other than the Western part of the greatest rug weaving country in the world. These weavers are known for so many things; creativity, playfulness in their designs, master dyers getting the richest colors in the world, and for making it a priority to pack down each knot well as they weave that creates this thick and durable rug "the Iron rug" as they're known for. Why is this village my top 3 favorite rug weaving villages in the world? In addition to all the above, these are the mystical pieces that you can just get lost in and nearly see the weaver's soul poured out into it. Seriously, these pieces take so long to make from sheering the wool, washing the wool, spinning the wool, dying the wool, and then weaving the rug. It isn't common to get a nice thick piled rug with a fine of a weave as this - that's workmanship and levels of detail and patience that are truly above and beyond. Ok, let's get into the rug... This BOTANICAL jewel is filled to the brim with flora that is inspired by the natural surroundings these weavers see in their environment. Vines, petals, stems, flowers, and more fill nearly every square inch of this piece in a delicate yet impossible to ignore manner. The colors of this rug are a recess for the eyes - rich saffron yellows, unbelievable spring and forest greens, rich handsome reds, lake, and french blues, mocha and beige, camel and salmon, roe and English rose, ice blues with peacock blues, and more. Music for the eyes. Not to mention the infinitely GORGEOUS border that frames this piece of gold. "Garrus" design border, which I refer to as the "root and vine" pattern, is one of the absolute favorites and is actually what this village is more commonly known for - usually it's this design that is throughout the field of the rug, but in this unique piece they wove it in the border - adding another element of surprise and creativity. All-natural wool pile with organic wool foundation - super nomadic piece. This is an example of real art woven for the soul. This piece will elevate anything it is near. Super decorative for any space it finds. Will enrich woods, leather, plants, art, metals, and whatever else you throw at it. Truly a 1 of 1 rare and relentlessly beautiful carpet. Tribal Masterpiece named after the Goddess of Beauty; Aphrodite.
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.
We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
