About: All right, this is an extremely luxurious rug that shimmers in the light yet can read more earthy depending on which angle you look at it from. The wool is incredible, giving it a beautiful shine, soft plush feel underfoot, and just a wonderfully nomadic piece. This design, is of course, the ancient Elephant track designs because the "guls" or larger octagon motifs are inspired by elephant tracks because these weavers and their ancestors before them traveled via elephant and camel under the stars and sun. You will see bird tracks inside the elephant tracks as well if you look closely! This rug is really super nomadic given the long salvage/kilim ends that are also pure wool (goat hair). Ok, back t the colors; deep indigo, tangerine, earthy mochas, amazing abrash of soft blues, and the main color is really tricky - the best way I can describe it is by giving it the main color of copper/salmon/pink with subtle and earthy ALMOST lavender notes, autumn hues, and faint pinky terracotta. It is a feast for the eyes, and given the lanolin in the wool, when you look on top of the rug and looking with the nap of the rug - it'll shine and glow, and when you look inside the nap of the pile, it'll read darker and deeper and more moody - amazing rug!!
This rug is one-of-a-kind, only one available. Because of the nature and age of these older/antique handmade pieces, irregularities and age-related wear are likely to exist and are not considered defects.
We always recommend a high-quality custom cut pad for any and all rugs; these pads are made for hand-knotted rugs. They create a body and support the knots of the rug, as well as prevent it from slipping and sliding.
