Hand-woven rug as an art object
The La Scala collection of rugs, designed by Mike Shilov, is an ode to classical architecture. Each rug looks like a blueprint of the renaissance architecture in which we find harmony based on the principles of mathematically calculated proportions. A whole team of designers and colorists worked on the design and took 6 months to knot each of them by skillful masters of hand-knotting in Nepal.
Comprehending the mysteries of the ancient heritage
The effect of living classics, a touch of history, is built on the synthesis of complex elements, each of which evokes a whole range of associations. Drawing graphics: the spiral of a staircase going deep into space. The rhythm of the steps is increasing and is accurately traced. The background is a canvas, uneven coloring of which refers to the ancient frescoes from the walls of ancient palaces. The unique color of the rug 'Golden Rust' was achieved by using a huge number of shades of fibers from light gold, ochre to deep brown. The third element is the pile texture, formed by knots of wool and silk. They are gathered in groups and their different properties reflect light, bringing a play of light to the surface of the rug.
