Common Energy seeks to instill the Eastman Reading Garden and the downtown Cleveland community with a message of positivity, inclusivity, and love. The design is based on Tibetan prayer wheels, cylindrical wheels inscribed with Buddhist mantras. Hundreds of thousands of mattress are also placed inside of the wheels. Interacting with the prayer wheels simply requires the act of spinning them in order to send their message out to the world.

Meet the Creator

Art to transform the everyday experience.

Born and raised in Cleveland, OH, I received my BFA in Ceramics from Bowling Green State University and my MFA from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. I returned to Cleveland in 2013 to pursue my artistic career after living in Minneapolis, MN for close to seven years.

My practice is three-fold: pottery, sculpture, and public art. Within each of these practices, I focus using concept and craft to create a transformative experience for my audience. A cup can do that. An immersive installation can do that too. Art is so wonderful in that way!
