Meet the Creator

The Leipzig-born sculpture Laura Eckert is considered a great talent within the German figurative sculpture. The human is the common thread and the center of her themes. Her work focuses on the human body and the portrait, in which within the human relationship she search for the interrelationship between cultural, social, biological and psychological aspects. Eckert uses wood and stone as the main material in her work. In a robust but balanced way, she chops her wooden portrait heads into characteristic sculptures.
