Item details

A cairn is a man-made stack of stones used to mark a path or a special place. It is a tool of communication, letting us know that someone has been here before and that we are on the right track. It is a symbol of trail-blazing, progress, and comfort in unworn territories. It is an invitation to contribute to what has come before.
Cairn is a public sculpture by Adam Frezza & Terri Chiao installed at The University of Florida Clinical and Translational Research Building (CTRB). The sculpture is a symbol of the University’s contributions to science research and innovation, and provides a seating area and gathering point for the new courtyard. Constructed of four granite stones quarried in Elberton, GA, Cairn weighs over 20 tons.
