“El Arbol” (The Tree), a Lake Georgetown vista public art commission. Glass mosaic mural comprised of 53,940 individually hand-placed tiles, dimensions 13ft x 21ft at the lobby of the new Municipal Courthouse in Georgetown, TX. Thanks to Georgetown TX Arts & Culture for the opportunity and foresight to include public art integrated into the new construction. To Balfour Beatty US and Lawrence Group for the immaculate structure on which to install my mural including super tight framing.

Painting/Mosaic, Public and Community Art

J Muzacz is a muralist, mosaic and public artist, community art advocate and educator. Originally from Houston, TX and a graduate of the University of Texas with a degree in Sociology, Muzacz has since travelled extensively and lived abroad painting numerous large-scale murals in places as far reaching as Taiwan, New Zealand and Okinawa, Japan.

He is co-founder of The Mosaic Workshop, an artist-led open studio space at Something Cool Studios in East Austin teaching the process of public art from concept to completion through hands-on experiential projects of monumental scale. In the studio, Muzacz’ brightly stylized stained-glass painting works are defined by cultural universalism with a celebratory tone.
