Bar Terrace
Item Details
Harrison Green was engaged exclusively to design the various outdoor spaces at this esteemed luxury Hotel, recently opened in Midtown Manhattan. Guests enter the hotel from the street, flanked by oversized metal planters with giant evergreen boxwood topiaries. The plantings were designed to work with the over-scaled entrance and iconic illuminated glass facade designed by internationally acclaimed architects SOM. On the second floor, adjacent to the Grand Salon and Hotel Bar, the outdoor terrace was designed as a contemporary take on the formal garden style of 18th century France. Poised over West 53rd Street opposite MoMA, the marble paved terrace is lined with oversized Versailles planters, three storied bespoke treillage and custom-designed exterior furniture made in France. The striking black and white design with a simple evergreen planting palette of boxwood spheres and English ivy provides a relaxing escape for hotel guests, nestled amongst the skyline of New York City, whilst echoing the quintessential French style of Baccarat.
