Haunting Women in Australian Landscapes

I was raised in a handbuilt, mudbrick home on a commune in New South Wales. There was no running water or electricity, but I had the bush as my closest companion throughout my young life. The urge to be close to water and the natural world has stayed with me ever since – and today, I express my connection through my fine art photography.

Although my fine art practice explores many different subjects, an ongoing preoccupation is capturing the female form in landscapes. I try to encourage the viewer to look twice, beneath the surface of the work and consider both their own identity and their relationship with the environment. I photograph women to empower both them and myself, bringing forth their strength and raw, honest edges.

In 2019, ‘As the World Falls Down’ was a finalist in the National Photographic Portrait Prize, ‘In Dreams’ finalist in the Incinerator Art Award, and photographic series ‘Others Dream’ highly commended in Australasia’s Top Emerging Photographers Award. I was invited to create a self-portrait for the ABC Art Bites documentary series: Mirror in 2018, in 2019 I was commissioned to photograph portraits for the 10th Anniversary of the Black Saturday Bushfires for the Victorian Police Museum ‘Remembered, Things of Fire and Ash’ exhibition, and was given a solo exhibition at Craig’s Royal Hotel in collaboration with the Ballarat International Foto Biennale. Selected artworks are represented by Metro Gallery, Curatorial & Co., and Modern Times.

I bring my background in fine art photography to a diverse range of commercial and private commissions, which encompass fashion, portraiture & interiors. My work has been published in magazines such as Belle, Vogue Living, Real Living, Elle, Yen, Capture, Australian House & Garden, Art Aesthetica (UK), The Opéra Magazine (Germany), and my photographs featured in the films Fifty Shades Darker in 2017 and Fifty Shades Freed in 2018.
