This abstract painting is another example of going from where I know to where I don't know. I begin this type of work by adding line work and random paint just to mar the canvas, rendering it no longer pristine and therefor intimidating. I then immerse myself in the act of pushing paint around the canvas; adding, removing, marking, scraping, dancing, singing - until I see any entry point into the composition. I often find pop culture works its way into my paintings ie. a book or movie I have recently been exposed to. In this case, a Wes Anderson movie was a reference.
