Item Details
Passionate American abstract artist Sam Francis created this acrylic on canvas painting titled “Untitled". It adorns an immaculate white wall of the Terminal 3 in San Francisco International Airport.
Sam Francis began painting while hospitalized at Letterman Hospital in San Francisco, where he studied privately with well-known Bay Area painter David Park. He was among the first of the American Abstract Expressionists to be exhibited in Europe, where his work was very influential. This vibrant commissioned painting is a good example of Sam's signature stained and dripped “cells” of saturated color.
