"At The Beach No. 4" 20x16 is part of my Endless Summer painting collection.

ENDLESS SUMMER

There’s a feeling of freedom associated with summer. Even though we’re no longer children running barefoot and free, there’s a sense of being unencumbered. A practice of getting out of your head, or at least trying to, and taking on a slower pace.

Endless Summer encapsulates this free feeling of summer through color and light, providing a way to carry that attitude and energy with you even when the days turn gray.

The collection is broken into two parts that create the whole.

A Day at the Beach combines pastel hues and watery blues to create a sense of calming energy – relaxed, easy, slow, light. There’s a happiness to these paintings – not a high/jittery happy, but rather a calm knowing or a deep joy. Gratitude and appreciation. Time nearly stops to create the perfect reset.

Tropical Nights is the second half – the electric, buzzing energy that makes up the whole. Warm pink, orangey reds, deep blues and violets meet bold mark making to create a tempo that moves back and forth between fast and slow. The passion and the energy of sultry tropical beats loosens your hips and your mind. Let go of thinking and begin to feel.

Plus packing/shipping/insurance, sales tax (if located in WA). Framing is not offered.

A lot of emotion goes into my work. Painting is a joyful experience for me, and I believe that my joy is transferred through my art into the homes and work environments of my collectors.

Through her artwork, Melanie Biehle explores the inner workings of the mind, mysteries of the universe, and the often opposing energy of the city and the sea.

"I’ve always been obsessed with the mind and emotions, and deeply moved by beauty and meaning. I studied psychology in college and began my creative career first as a writer. Now I combine writing and psychology to create abstract paintings – first by exploring the emotional nature of ideas, words, places, spaces and then translating those emotions into color and form."

In addition to contemplating and expressing emotional experiences and energy, Melanie’s work explores shapes and patterns inspired by urban architecture, city skylines, and coastal shorelines. Impressions of the contrasting energy of city and sea are essential in creating her work — both in mood and content.

After working in Los Angeles as a screenwriter and film marketer, Melanie returned to Seattle, started a family, and fell in love with painting. She studied abstract painting and composition at Gage Academy of Art and further honed her eye through freelance graphic design and photography assignments.

Today she creates large and small scale abstract paintings for private collectors, art consultants, and interior designers. Each piece is painted with the intention to calm or energize a space through the use of shape, color, and form.

Along with creating art for residential and commercial spaces around the world, the artist often partners with companies who want to elevate their events, products, and marketing by commissioning unique original artwork. Melanie’s work has been commissioned, purchased, and licensed for photography backgrounds, digital art installations, apparel, and stationery.

Melanie was born in rural Louisiana but feels most at home on the West Coast. She has split her time between Seattle and Los Angeles since 1999. Now she lives and paints by a lake near Seattle with her husband, son, dog, and cat.
