This series is called lumina, that's Latin for lights or cavities.
It evolved from my take on the Dutch fraction of the ZERO movement.
First a grid is applied on a panel, painted matt black.
The grid (cavities) is then filled under a magnifying glass.
I use a dip pen, with gold-inks (lights) I developed.
Then a process of destruction/creation takes place untill it's done.

All art is concentrated.

I came to realize that Dutch ZERO had to be my artistic starting point.
Late 2015 I made my first relief.
I tried to develop a more distinct signature from the start.
Since early 2020 that has resulted in the series LUMINA.
In this successful series I connect monastic work in/with the modern world.
The creative process is both intuitive and analytical.
Concentration, control and contrast are connected to my work.
My aspiration is to render the great in a subtle way.
And I want the pieces to be timeless.
