Contemporary Abstract Painter - where calm and chaos coexist
Jillian earned a BFA in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she became infatuated with contemporary art and abstraction. She currently creates from her rural farmhouse studio, and her work can be found in homes and businesses around the world.
Through painting, she deals with the spontaneity and chaos of life, the illusion of control, and how our reactions to stimuli develops our perception of reality. Life is unpredictable and that’s what makes it so crazy and beautiful. Jillian’s art embraces the process, the imperfections, and creates harmony and beauty from the chaos.
Using bold marks, with brush and palette knives, focusing on the process, she paints intuitively. Like choices in life, she makes micro and macro choices while she creates, reacting to the colors and marks in front of her, her paintings embody the essence of emotion and life. You're not just looking at a painting you're feeling it. You're not just looking at a painting of wildflowers, you're transported into that field of flowers. Most often, the works are done in acrylic with underlying layers in charcoal, graphite other various drawing tools. When a piece comes together, the marks, texture, and colors act as key elements used to develop mood and movement creating balance and harmony out of the chaos. It’s abstract, and it’s real.
