Spirit Tree at the Billabong - Paintings

Unavailable

As with many of my paintings, 'Spirit Tree at the Billabong' is reminiscent of my childhood memories, walking through bushland on the outskirts of the Southern Highlands of NSW where we lived, discovering beautiful waterholes amongst the ancient trees. No other humans wandered there at that time as it was not accessible except through our neighbours property. So we thought of it as our own private paradise.

The painting has been done using artist quality acrylic paint, charcoal and pigment ink. The gallery wrapped edges have been painted so there is no need to frame the painting, it is ready to hang as is.

Jacinta Payne is a Melbourne based artist who aims to tread as lightly as she possibly can on this beautiful planet.

Jacinta hopes to share some of the beauty of this world as seen through her eyes and expressed through art.
She has always loved to draw, particularly portraits, flowers, and patterns. However, it is when she is making abstract paintings that she feels most connected with her purpose. She likes to experiment with different techniques and utensils to apply paint, and often end up using her hands, which further connects her with the painting.

"I am totally inspired by nature and have a passion for colour. I see colour combinations nearly every time I close my eyes. Just before I drift off to sleep I’ll often see a picture in my mind’s eye of a pattern, shape or colour combination (or all of the above) and I have to get up and sketch it or make a note about it, otherwise, I can’t sleep. Sometimes these sketches will be the inspiration for my next painting or series."

Growing up in the Southern Highlands of NSW on the edge of Morton National Park, Jacinta has always felt a strong connection with the Australian bush. She feels very lucky to again live surrounded by bush, now in Victoria. This connection is so uplifting for her and gives her great inspiration to immerse herself in the paints and canvas.

In her childhood and early years, her inspiration began with countless hours watching her dad painting landscapes, seascapes, still-life, and equine portraits and her brother paint Australian birds & wildlife, and so she began an ever-evolving journey that has led her to finally pursue her art dream.
