Brown isn’t a color that typically inspires me, but as I walked around I noticed that this unassuming and often ignorable color was the one that grounded every other color. The shade of brown could decide if the greens looked richer or softer, or if the pinks were warmer or cooler. I think that’s what this painting will do on your walls. It will see you space and help ground it. This painting pairs well with every other in the collection because it was the color that was always present on the scene.

An original watercolor on handmade cotton rag paper measuring 3.5” x 5”.

A painter of modern impressionism and abstract landscapes

Emily Tingey is a painter of modern impressionism and abstract landscapes in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her at home studio, a small room inside her early 1900's home with creaky wood floors and a cardinal who nests in the tree outside her windows is her calm, her sanctuary to recall views and emotions from her travels around the world and walks around her neighborhood. Her hope is that you feel the warmth, calm, peace, acceptance, and joy she tries to instill in each of her paintings. You can see more of her work at www.emilytingey.com.
