Annie Axtell is a printmaker and artist working out of Vancouver BC. Born in Quebec, she studied fine arts in Montreal at Concordia University where she fell in love with printmaking. Realizing her knack for detail and a passion for the process she found herself quite at home learning the ins and outs of the paper arts. After graduating she lived in San Francisco from 2011 to 2016, where she interned at the San Francisco Centre for the Book Arts and co-founded a letterpress studio/collective. This is where she drew the first of many moon phase calendars. Altho her love for learning new techniques and processes screen printing has remained a constant over the past 13 years. It is her medium of choice, a process that delivers flexibility and instant satisfaction.

The Lunar Calendar started as a gift for loved ones who were far away. To help them track the phases of the moon and stay connected to our celestial bodies. Drawing a new design every year is an important part of the evolution of the print. Each calendar is printed by hand in her based Vancouver studio. It now services so many more friends and like-minded people than she could have ever imagined.
