Window Painting - Murals

This was part of a large shop window painting in Cottesloe. It was hard to capture in a photo but there is a small fish pond with water lilies directly behind the window. The owner of the shop wanted a temporary window painting of the fish dancing to celebrate the Summer Solstice. There are a few other fish jumping along the rest of the window and water lilies framing the whole bottom and up around the sides with writing in the centre of the window.

Perth based artist, Susan Respinger has been honing her skills in drawing and painting for most of her life. From a young age, Susan loved creating very detail focused drawings on paper and playful, colorful paintings on large canvases.

In 2016 she made the leap from large canvas paintings to even larger mural painting, pushing her work further out into the public eye and giving her the opportunity to create pieces of artwork that interacted with the environment surrounding them. Most notably creating playful monster characters which took over a whole floor of the 140 William building in Perth city using the building’s built-in features like a monster playground and bringing fun and color to an otherwise ordinary building.

When looking at Susan’s range of work one thing that stands out is the variety of different subject matters. Susan doesn’t like to stick to one particular theme throughout her body of work. Although very varied in subject matter there is an underlying theme of light-heartedness and fun taking a lot of inspiration from the natural world, travel and pop culture.
