INTERSPERSED WITH #EXTRAESTETICA, THE ARTIST HAS ALSO BEEN DEVELOPING A PAINTING SERIES ARTICULATING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FINE ART TECHNIQUES AND VERNACULAR SPANISH VOCABULARY, EXPLORING THE CODIFIED SOCIAL AMBIGUITY OF TERMS SUCH AS ‘PERRA’ AND ‘BRUJA’. Olivié Ponce was born in Mexico City and trained in fine arts at the Universidad de Guanajuato. He rapidly integrated into the local art scene and exhibited in numerous group shows.
