Manager of the Cincinnati Reds, David Bell, requested a mural with an abstracted representation of not only Reds baseball history, but also the many elements of the city of Cincinnati. Hats from every period of Reds baseball history with radiating lines help to break up the composition. Architecture, text, symbolism, illustration, and highly rendered player's limbs where used to create a flow from one end to the other. The monotone color chosen was meant to mimic an old baseball photograph, and hints of Red were added to compliment the subject matter. The entire mural was painted on 4 separate pieces of MDF board, which were each cut out to carefully follow the contour of the design. The final piece feels like it is floating off of the wall, and gives the mural a unique quality. -Acrylic on primed MDF board -15.5' x 7.5'
