KunLun - Lamps

Creator not accepting inquiries

It was hand drawn by watercolour first. Then the drawing was transferred onto silk canvas to be hand embroidered by the embroidery artist.

The Inspiration
The shape is inspired by the ancient Asian coins, which were round on the edge and square in the centre. Kunlun mountains constitute one of the longest mountain chains in Asia, and thought to be one of the birth places of mythical creatures and fairytales. Kunlun mountains were descirbed as the location of the ShangriLa monastery in the 1913 novel Lost Horizon by English writer James Hilton.

Part of a new-wave of craftsmanship, Ori Bespoke specialises in modern lighting and decor inspired by traditional hand embroidery.

Founded by designer Pei Li in 2017, Ori Home rediscovers ancient craftsmanship from around the
world and reimagines them for modern interiors. From lighting pieces which incorporate traditional Chinese embroidery to cushions inspired by the rich colours of Ikat from Uzbekistan, Li scours the globe for the finest in contemporary homewares
before applying his own unique touches. Translated into Italian, Ori is the plural of gold, and Li likens his handmade collections of luxury homewares as lost treasures from around the globe.
