Item details

The high ceilings and original crown moldings in this 19th century living and dining room were the perfect framework to mix tradition and contemporary design. This formerly dark-grey dining space was transformed into a bright and colorful tropical paradise by adding wainscotting to amplify the traditional feel, which provided the ideal backdrop to balance this vibrant contemporary wallpaper (by Matthew Williamson.) A traditional crystal chandelier pairs beautifully with the off-white wainscotting, making the space feel even more lush and luxurious. A couple refurbed pieces from the 1930's, mixed with a retro dining and a colorful contemporary rug, make the space a perfect mishmash of design styles - creating a unique and comfortable feeling in the space. In the living space, the client wanted to create a vibrant, but more streamlined feel. Many shades of grey, found on the furniture pieces and walls, paired with brightly colored pieces like throw pillows, rug and a fabulous vintage Indian tapestry for the wall create the perfect combination of calm, comfortable and colourful.
