Hair Salon - Breakfast Point

Item details

After designing three previous salons, including one hair & beauty salon, which was the largest salon in the Southern Hemisphere, KOEDAM DESIGN was asked by their client to design a new salon. This was located in the recently constructed retail development building of the Breakfast Point precinct.

KOEDAM DESIGN has worked with our client for over 25 years, designing both their numerous residential projects, new hair salons plus numerous refurbishments and updates that go with a thriving business. Our management included both the initial concepts, architecture and interior documentation, finishes and material specifications, tendering and liaising with fitout companies and trades throughout the construction process.

This salon was to have a different feel to my client‘a other salons. With a tight budget and timeframe, the salon was to be contemporary in design and fit into the Breakfast Point precinct atmosphere, design guidelines and their corporate approval.

A clean contemporary concept was proposed with individual stying areas and a separate colour and consultation bench space, where colour could be applied and where clients relaxed reading a magazine or working on their laptops.

A custom designed joinery storage area was located to the rear of the salon. This joinery was central to the efficient working of the salon. It was not only a storage space for hair products and towels, but was accessible to the hair wash basins and to one side combined the refreshment coffee and tea bar. Client privacy during their visits was also paramount In designing the floor plan layouts.

A separate colour mixing bar was located away to the side, in an open room. My client’s photographic images from her campaigns with Goldwell were used throughout the salon, to give an individual identity. A large image on glass can be seen from the street, giving privacy to the clients and having the ability to be changed out in the future when a new shoot image is selected.

A compact reception area was designed with a dividing storage unit that housed product display, storage, computers and client’s coats and bags.

The salon was a great success for my client and a wonderful addition for the Breakfast Point precinct.
