Kerra was thrilled to take on the spatial challenge of a young family transitioning from a city apartment to a 6-bedroom, 6-bathroom home in a tree-filled neighborhood of McLean, Virginia: "How can we turn these empty rooms and huge house into a home?" Kerra and her team got right to work, using plants, textiles and well-chosen furniture to inject life and warmth into this new build.
Kerra's signature use of unexpected wall color added depth and continuity to the children's rooms. Graphic design elements and an astronaut bed energized the "big boy" bedroom, while nautical elements set sail in the more grounded nursery. Working with a wonderful collection of Asian artwork acquired during her client's travels, Kerra used lavender, rust, shades of blue, and various neutrals to tie the whole home together.
