The owner of this historic Park Slope, Brooklyn Brownstone was a busy mom with two little girls – and a third baby on the way – when I first met with her. Although the brownstone had fantastic potential, she didn’t have the time to make design choices. She wasn’t even sure where to start. The result was a sea of brown leather bachelor sofas, even after living in their new brownstone for six months. She needed the help of an interior designer to create a home that worked well with the historic architecture, and for her growing family.

IT’S ABOUT HOW YOU FEEL THE MOMENT YOU WALK IN THE DOOR. THOUGHTFUL, CONTEMPORARY INTERIORS

A native of Brazil, Miami-raised, long time resident of Brooklyn and now resident of Hudson Valley, NY, Ana Claudia is just as eclectic and diverse as her background.

Upon graduating from Florida International University with a Liberal Arts Degree focused in Architecture, Ana Claudia worked in architecture for about a decade only to realize she loved working in interior design. For 5 years she worked at Ligne Roset as an interior designer where she honed her skills not just in design but also became a better listener and developed strong customer service. While at Ligne Roset Ana Claudia also started her design company first as a jewelry company known as ACD Jewelry and soon after she decided to solely focus on interiors and never regretted a moment since.

A couple years working as an interior designer, Ana Claudia met her husband through a long time friend and sister of her husband Aaron Smyle. Aaron's and Ana Claudia's personalities not only connected but they also connected because they are both small business owners who are passionate about their careers. Soon after they moved in together…

“We moved into our ‘dream apartment’ in Brooklyn. I was content in the city and considered myself a New Yorker. My husband is an owner and accountant for Smyle & Associates, and I had my interior design company in the city.”

Yet less than 6 months after moving in, the couple took a weekend trip to Beacon. They fell in love with Upstate New York, and a new adventure had begun.

“Before we knew it, we had a realtor on speed dial and we’re looking for houses.” Soon after making an offer, Ana Claudia and her husband became the proud owners of a pristine condition midcentury modern home. Hello full gut renovation!

“By the time the extensive renovations were complete, we couldn’t wait to move in and live in the Hudson Valley full time.”

Today the interior designer is making a name for herself with projects in Hudson Valley New York, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New Jersey.
