Both monumental and subtle, the Shale Credenza brings the intricacies of nature’s geology indoors. The wood doors are scored vertically accross the grain, and details of a cliff’s facade, mapped out by Simon Johns, are carved into them replicating the textures of it’s crumbling surface. Patterns within the carving and the wood’s grain create optical illusions depending on the light’s orientation making it as striking from afar as from up close. The piece is available in low (25’’ high) and high (30’’high) versions. The credenza comes in black or grey. It comes with a black, mirrored or brass base made to order. It can also be wall mounted. Due to the hand-carved facade, no two pieces are quite the same.
