The Finage Cabinet is a completed, ready-to-ship artwork-furniture hybrid created in our Toronto studio by Morgan Clayhall. Designed as a functional sculpture, the piece showcases Murray Duncan’s signature “Finage” artwork—an expressive band of looping, fluid linework that drips and moves across the surface of the sliding doors. The contrast between the crisp white panels and the dense, hand-applied black artwork creates a compelling visual tension, while the warm walnut case grounds the composition with architectural calm.

Crafted from walnut veneer and supported by solid matte-black steel legs, the cabinet balances contemporary refinement with artistic edge. Behind the sliding doors, the interior includes adjustable shelving, offering practical storage without compromising the sculptural presence of the piece.

We approach cabinetry as a canvas. Through collaboration and careful craftsmanship, each art-door cabinet integrates original artwork directly into the surface, resulting in functional pieces that carry the presence and intention of art.

Morgan Clayhall is a Toronto-based, multi-disciplinary studio working at the intersection of art and furniture. The studio creates one-of-a-kind pieces where material, surface, and form are treated as an extension of the artwork itself.

Each work begins with an artistic concept and evolves through a hands-on process of layering, manipulation, and finish. Cabinets, consoles, and sculptural objects become canvases — integrating original artwork into functional forms that carry depth, texture, and narrative.

Working in collaboration with select fabricators and completed in-house, every piece is developed with a focus on composition, balance, and material expression. The result is a collection of highly individual works that move beyond furniture into collectible design.

Morgan Clayhall was recognized by Architectural Digest as one of the “17 On-the-Rise Designers You Should Know Now.”
