Aimee is part of the Femme Series, a sculptural exploration celebrating the female form. I am trying to capture the universal beauty and grace of the body in all its variations The delicacy of the piercing paired with the unexpected strength of the clay reflects my view of women. While we may appear delicate, we have incredible powers of perseverance and resilience. We are tougher than we look, often stringer than we know.
This piece is wheel thrown and hand pierced. While the clay is still wet small holes are mapped out and cut. Once it is bone dry each hole is painstakingly enlarged and smoothed. It is fired with a turquoise crackle glaze.
