At Skate Or Design, we are fueled by a passion for skateboarding and good (green) design, our goal is to build a responsible, sustainable business in the USA.

It all began when, for fun, my brother Adam, asked me to help him make him a chair using a stack of his broken skate decks. Inspired by the consistent way the boards were broken, we had the idea for the original skateboard stool. In 2007 that skateboard stool was featured in Interior Design Magazine as a winner of their Future Furniture Competition and soon the seed for an entire business was planted.

Our products are engineered to work with typical skateboard breakage and maximize the useable material. Product forms are derived from the gentle curves of the molded maple plywood and the surfaces showcase the beauty of the scraped and scarred artwork. All Deckstool products are one-of-a-kind. We use modern woodworking techniques to create precision parts and skilled skateboarder craftsman to finish them with an artist’s touch.

The goal of deckstool is to support skateboarding and skate-related causes through our recycling program, and continue to turn tons of trashed skatedecks into beautiful, useful products that last! Learn more about our skateboard recycling program here.
