Screenpainting/paper folds/sculpture

Born in 1979, Jason Cantoro is a Montreal-based visual artist of French-Canadian and Italian descent. He lives and works in Montreal. He co-founded the Cinqunquatre workshop with Alice Jarry (2004-2016). He recently founded the Le Club workshop in 2016, located at the legendary Shiff Building at 305 Bellechasse. His studio is a free creative space where he offers technical assistance in printing and mentoring for emerging artists.

His atypical career combines Art and Design. In addition to his exclusively artistic work, he has collaborated with many cultural actors and various companies for projects of identity, illustration, installation, art direction and public art. It encourages the multitude and hybridization of media, creative techniques and modes of dissemination. He considers that the central elements of his creative process are discussions and meetings with potential collaborators.

His silkscreen works use the codes of painting, collage, and photography. He also develops his printed surfaces in sculpture through origami. He studies the relationship between ordered calculus and hazard in repetition.

He developed his market mainly in the United States and Canada and a little in France. He has exhibited solo in galleries in Montreal, New York and recently Belgrade as part of a residency where he developed the concept of his series '' The Paper Trail ''.
He has signed a few public art projects, including a mural on St-Laurent Street and a sculpture as part of the Aires Libres public art event in 2015. He is about to start making his first work of art. public art for the public art office of the city of Montreal, which will be located on the north wall of the Strathearn Cultural Center in the Milton-Parc neighborhood.
He has participated in numerous American and Canadian art fairs in Paris, Honk Kong and London including Scope Miami, Art New York,
He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in the same cities and has performed two artist residencies in Belgrade, Serbia, and Lazio, Italy.
His work is part of several corporate collections such as Colart Collection, Ubisoft, Ivanhoe Cambridge, The Cirque du Soleil, Aldo Group as well as multiple private collections.
