Shaun Kardinal, FB Seattle Westlake Commission, 2018. For FB Seattle's new Westlake building, local artist Shaun Kardinal created this installation -- "I (underpinning no. 1)" -- in his 36th revolution around the sun, a continually recurring number in the processes that led to its creation. It is a culmination of the last six years of his practice, made in seven metaphysical layers that inform this work, constructed of found postcards and string.

Shaun Kardinal

Seattle, WA

A conceptual artist and curator creating form with ephemeral repetition. His current multi-year, evolving exhibition Forward launched in May 2017 from the foundation of his 2015–16 iterative curatorial project Turn.

Using alteration, conglomeration, and curation, his cross-disciplinary practice manifests as modular structures, collaborative platforms, web-exclusive exhibitions, and interactive physical-digital installations.

His work has exhibited from Seattle to New York to London and in between. He is the recipient of two grants from 4Culture, has served as a member of SOIL artist-run gallery, was an organizational member of Crawl Space Gallery, and co-founder of Some Space Gallery.
