"Nautical" at The Albion hotel in South Beach is local artist Sabrina Baron's latest series of paintings for a Rubell Hotels L.C. property.

Three years ago, during her first project for The Albion, she created 160 paintings, which were mounted throughout the guest suites. That project "Unconscious Intelligence" was very successful, and she was brought back by Rubell Hotels to help revitalize The Lord Baltimore Hotel during it's remodel in 2013. The resulting "Dreaming of Jackson Pollock" and "Dreaming of Damien Hirst" projects were wildly successful, and led to this latest project at the Albion.

This time The Albion asked her to do a theme based on Nautical Flags inspired by Ellsworth Kelly. She used canvas sheets (16" x 20") and crumbled and soaked them after they were painted and dried to get the desired look. She completed 350 of the flags, and the reviews have been glowing for the series, which explores the relationship between nautical flags and color field painting.
