“Virga” is a site specific blown glass installation created for the atrium of the Embarcadero Capital Building in Belmont, CA. The concept for this piece was a rainfall which never reaches the ground known as Virga. There are 24 large blown glass raindrops suspended in the atrium of the building under skylights. The idea was to bring color into the building using glass and the natural light available from the skylights.

Since 1986 I have worked in my Northern California studio creating one of a kind kiln cast sculptures and blown glass installations. My involvement with this unique material has always been inspired by how glass, light and color interact. In creating glass sculpture I want to use the inherent property of the material to transmit light as a way to express a feeling of spirituality.
