Towards the nature of light

Local multidisciplinary artist Harold Mendez was commissioned to do “Towards the Nature of Light" (float glass, ceramic melting colors, hand painted transparent color, silkscreen; 2015) for the Chicago MTA's Morse station.

The photographic images were taken with a pinhole camera. The overall effect vibrantly utilizes colored transparent glass to reflect a warm mood and an inviting place as we wait for the hours to arrive, celebrating the transitions of the day. The interplay of light and shadow, warmth and welcoming environment serve as an entry point for Rogers Park commuters to experience the neighborhood, its tree lined streets, vibrant music scene and Lake Michigan.
