This delicate, round porcelain brooch was hand-formed from a slab of Limoges porcelain*. I used the sgraffito** technique to create gentle leaves.
While the clay is leather hard I brush black slip and then carve the image with special ceramic sculpting tools called ribbon and wire tools.
The contrast of the black against the brilliant white of the Limoges porcelain is beautiful.
