"Alphonso Trent & the Southwest Territory Band" honors a Fort Smith native who was a pioneer in big band era orchestras. He was a forerunner for the likes of Count Basie and Duke Ellington. He traveled the South with his orchestra playing in hotels and clubs (most of which he couldn't even stay). The mural features representations of Alphonso with all of the instruments in his band.
