Mister Jiu's

San Francisco, CA

Restaurants
28 Waverly Pl, San Francisco 94108, CA
Mister Jiu's is a contemporary Chinese restaurant in the heart of San Francisco's Chinatown celebrating the legacy of traditional Chinese recipes while embracing the California heritage of local and sustainable produce and pantry.

Owner and chef Brandon Jew aimed for a "California vibe but that Cantonese simplicity," and scored a Michelin star after only one year of operation, a rare feat.

The four-story building on Clay Street was constructed in the 1880s, and first housed Hang Far Low, which was for years the area's best restaurant. A series of restaurants came and went over the years, most memorably the Four Seas, which had fallen out of favor by 2013. The building's owner recruited Jew to open his dream restaurant, and after several years of planning and reconstructing the result is this vibrant, 10,000-square-foot space.
