Q&A

How does the design of your space (or an element of the design) impact the experiences people have there?

"The design is meant to be experiential in at least two ways. One, the always changing visual design mostly referenced above, intended to further the experience of the cuisine and culture being presented by the menu of the season. But it is also designed to showcase every bit of the work being done to serve the guests. Guests are invited, through wide open sight lines, to watch the staff at work, meet them, and learn from them about what they are doing, and why, in the preparation of the meal. And thirdly, some of the space is always dedicated to local artists to display their work. This is often less directly influenced by the cuisine of the moment, but is experiential in the sense that it is intentionally creating community space."
Q&A

What is the interior design style of your space?

"It is an open floorplan, with all workspaces, including the kitchen, dining room, and all storage, in one open sightline. The walls are designed to be modular in at least three easily changeable ways...a display shelf wraps the dining space, with a pin board above that, and a wire hanging frame above that. The menu is designed as an immersive experience, changing regularly, and the design of the space, mostly using these modular design elements, is always changing to accommodate that."
Q&A

What Custom/Original Element do your guests notice most often? What do they say about it?

"Hand made coffee pots by a local artisan, an antique department store jewelry case repurposed to display fresh baked pasty, and an oversized prep table island on which the entire work of the kitchen is always on display."
