I would describe my home and my design aesthetic as California coastal meets Scandinavian modern. I tend to be a little minimalist/neutral, a little maximalist/bold. I love working with neutrals like blacks, whites, leathers and woods for the big things like tile, furniture, cabinetry - but then having fun with color and boldness in art, objects, patterned rugs, wallpapers and plants. It’s a fun and less overwhelming way to bring visual interest to a space. In my home, I have a giant great room with an amazing vaulted ceiling with exposed truss beams. I didn't want the space to be too busy, but wanted a major feature to compliment the beams - so I created a beautiful graphic fireplace using a bold black and white Cle Tile and surrounded it with a simple white counter-height built ins on either side. Then I layered in graphic and striped black and white rugs, neutral-toned furnishings, and a fun gallery wall to bring the space together. It's such a large room, but each space works well together and it's the perfect amount of neutral and fun - which is always what I'm striving to bring to my designs.
