International District Library

Seattle, WA

Public Service Centers
713 8th Ave S, Seattle 98104, WA
“The new International District/Chinatown Branch, 713 Eighth Ave. S., opened June 11, 2005. It was the 16th project completed under the "Libraries for All" building program. The $735,000 branch is located inside International District Village Square II, in space leased from the Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation and Development Authority.

The space was designed by Miller Hayashi Architects and built by Cope Construction Co. Miller Hayashi Architects designed the east-facing space to take advantage of the 20-foot floor-to-ceiling height and created a sense of unity with an interesting ceiling canopy made of ribbons of wood. Long hanging lamps illuminate the space, which feels urban, modern and elegant.

The branch also includes artwork by San Francisco artist Rene Yung. Yung used teacups collected from local residents and companies to create sculptural artworks for the branch.

The International District/Chinatown Branch of the Seattle Public Library system is located at 713 Eighth Ave S (inside the International District Village Square II complex).”
