The Commissary

The Commissary

San Francisco, CA

Restaurants
101 Montgomery St, San Francisco 94129, CA
The Commissary is offered by the Presidio Trust and award-winning chef Traci Des Jardins, in partnership with Bon Appétit Management Company. Its Spanish-influenced California cuisine is driven by sustainable, locally-sourced ingredients. It also features a mercantile with artisan goods, from batch jams to local cheeses, as well as bottles of wine.

It is located in the heart of the Presidio, and fittingly housed in the former mess hall of iconic streetscape known as the Montgomery Street Barracks. Built in 1895 and known colloquially as “infantry row,” the Barracks are adjacent to the beautiful Main Parade Ground.

The restaurant pairs authentic Presidio elements – such as lighting fixtures reclaimed from a historic Army gymnasium and Douglas Fir table tops fashioned from salvaged wood – with a comfortable, contemporary design. Most seating at The Commissary is communal. The restaurant also offers limited traditional and bar seating, dining on the shaded front porch, and “front row” seating surrounding an open kitchen where guests can watch the chefs in action.

The Commissary is a destination unto itself or a wonderful place to enjoy a meal during a day in the park.
