Ramen Shop in Oakland's Rockridge neighborhood is a purveyor of artistic, organic, and sustainable ramen. Opened by Jerry Jaksich, Rayneil De Guzman and Sam White they have converted the former Tachibana into an homage to the noodle shops of Japan. The interior is dark and cozy with plenty of warm wood and Japanese touches. The front of the 50-seat space is dominated by a bar area, while the back dining room has plenty of tables, highlighted by a large counter overlooking the kitchen and the cook staff doing their ramen busy-work. The bar and lounge area function as a waiting room of sorts, with White playing the role of maitre d' and managing the wait list.
