Opened in 2009 in a former shoe repair shop next door to Walden Pond Books, it has now added a cafe to its main restaurant. Boot and Shoe Service is a fancy-ish pizza restaurant in the Lakeshore neighborhood. It is owned by Charlie Hallowell who also owns Pizzaiolo in Temescal and Penrose on Grand. Hallowell expanded the restaurant into a second room with a lounge that seats 40. He also reconfigured the original 60-seat dining room, with an open kitchen highlighted by the tile-fronted pizza oven. Now there are two communal tables in the center of the room with regular tables on either side. With its brick walls and classic bones, it still holds vestiges of its former life as a shoe repair shop.
