Park Hyatt New York

New York, NY

Hotels
153 W 57th St, New York 10019, NY
"Pritzker Prize-winning French architect Christian de Portzamparc designed the 90-story building — now among New York’s tallest — giving it a gently curving crown and façade of kaleidoscopic glass. To tackle the hotel’s interior, Park Hyatt turned to hospitality-design gurus Glenn Pushelberg and George Yabu, of the Toronto- and New York-based firm Yabu Pushelberg, whose previous high-profile hotel and retail work spans the globe, including, most recently, the Waldorf Astoria Beijing, Lane Crawford Shanghai and the Edition hotels in London and Miami Beach.

From its 210 rooms and suites to its restaurant and bar to its 25th-floor spa and triple-height indoor pool area, the duo’s appealingly masculine, mid-century–inspired design for the Park Hyatt New York is awash in luxe fabrics, burnished metals, dark hardwoods and acres of richly grained marble and onyx in shades of cream, brown and gray. Floor-to-ceiling windows, custom lighting and furnishings plus 350 works of largely American contemporary art complete the look.”
